Vitória Futebol Clube TAVFER partnership dispute

Internal tension has emerged at Vitória Futebol Clube regarding a partnership agreement with TAVFER. Originally presented in May as a strategy to stabilize club finances and develop the Vale do Cobro lands, the deal has faced scrutiny from groups such as the ‘Vitória Sempre’ movement.

Critics have questioned whether the contract signed by club leadership aligns with the specific authorizations granted by the General Assembly. During a General Assembly in late July, the ratification of the agreement was removed from the voting agenda following requests from members who argue the document is detrimental to the club. Opponents, including the ‘Movimento Pró Vitória’ group, suggest the agreement is unbalanced and could lead to third-party interference in sports management, potentially resulting in penalties from the Portuguese Football Federation.

Club President Francisco Alves Rito has defended the partnership, stating it is essential for paying tax debts, strengthening the insolvency plan, liquidating a 2.7 million euro mortgage on the Vale do Cobro lands, and securing medium-term financing for sports activities.
