Vivek Ramaswamy faces scrutiny over campaign finances and family claims

Ohio Republican gubernatorial candidate Vivek Ramaswamy is facing scrutiny regarding both his campaign rhetoric and financial practices.

Investigations have revealed that Ramaswamy has repeatedly used a personal family narrative to support a policy proposal requiring Americans aged 18 to 24 to pass a civics test or complete service before voting. While he claimed his immigrant parents passed such a test to become citizens, reports indicate his father never underwent naturalization or took the test.

Additionally, campaign finance records show Ramaswamy’s campaign spent approximately $690,000 on private jet travel. Nearly $560,000 of that amount was paid to V Leasing LLC, a company registered to a residence owned by Ramaswamy. Watchdog groups have raised concerns that this structure could allow the candidate to use donor funds to reimburse himself for personal loans made to the campaign.
