Vivo Energy Uganda launches mobile training units for Shell staff

Vivo Energy Uganda has introduced two mobile training units designed to provide on-site skills development at Shell service stations and for independent mechanics throughout the country. The initiative aims to improve service consistency, operational efficiency, and the company’s competitive standing in the fuel retail and lubricants sectors.

The mobile classrooms, launched at Shell Lugogo, are expected to support training for over 2,000 employees across more than 200 Shell service stations. Additionally, a dedicated Shell Lubricants mobile unit will provide technical training to hundreds of independent mechanics.

By moving away from centralized training facilities, the company seeks to minimize operational disruptions and the time required to remove workers from their stations. Alex Tusingiwire, Vivo Energy Uganda’s Retail Manager, noted that the units allow for more practical training by using the actual equipment and systems employees encounter in their daily work environments. Training topics will include customer service, health and safety, product knowledge, and forecourt efficiency.
