Vivo expands camera technology to mid-range smartphones

Vivo is expanding its camera capabilities into the mid-range smartphone market. The newly revealed Vivo V80 features Zeiss-influenced image processing, which applies color and texture adjustments at a processing level to achieve an analogue film aesthetic rather than high-contrast HDR.

The V80 is equipped with a 50MP main sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens supporting 3x optical zoom, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP front-facing camera. The device includes a 6.59-inch AMOLED display, IP68 and IP69 resistance ratings, and an ultrasonic fingerprint reader.

Additionally, reports suggest that the upcoming Vivo S70, expected to launch in China in November, may support a clip-on teleconverter lens. This accessory, previously reserved for flagship X-series models, would allow for enhanced optical zoom. However, leaks indicate the lens could cost approximately one-third of the phone's total price.
