vivo to launch OriginOS 7 with Android 17 and Liquid Glass UI
vivo has announced that OriginOS 7 will launch on September 16 during its annual Developer Conference. Based on Android 17, the new software update introduces a major visual overhaul centered on a glass-style design language. Users will be able to choose between three distinct visual styles: Liquid Glass, regular glass, and frosted glass, which utilize transparency, dynamic lighting, and smooth animations.
Key features include a revamped lock screen experience featuring Liquid Themes and an interactive AI Pet. The AI Pet serves as a virtual companion that reacts to real-time data such as battery levels, weather, and music playback, while also providing proactive reminders for calendar events and notifications.
On the performance side, vivo is introducing an “unfair scheduling” algorithm to improve memory management and animation smoothness. The update also includes Storage Compression 2.0 to automatically free up space. Additionally, the Atomic Workbench tool will be brought to standard smartphones to provide multitasking capabilities similar to those found on foldable devices.
