Vivo OriginOS 7 rollout and feature roadmap

Overview

OriginOS 7, built on Android 17, has officially launched globally following its unveiling at the vivo Developer Conference in September 2026. The update introduces a ‘liquid glass’ visual interface with translucent effects and an interactive AI Pet that reacts to real-time data like weather and battery levels. Performance is driven by the Origin Smooth Engine and an ‘unfair scheduling’ algorithm, with vivo reporting a ‘10% faster app cold start time’ and an ‘11% faster app page switching rate’. The system also features Storage Compression 2.0 and Atomic Workbench, which brings multitasking capabilities—previously reserved for foldables—to standard slab smartphones.

A major component of the release is enhanced interoperability with the Apple ecosystem. Through the Origin Health Connect app, users can sync fitness data, view AirPods battery levels, and access iCloud files via the File Manager. Compatible Apple Watch models (Series 6, SE 2nd Gen, or newer running watchOS 9 or higher) can forward calls, SMS, and app notifications to Vivo devices, provided the watch was initially configured on an iPhone.

In India, the rollout is scheduled to begin in late October 2026 and continue through February 2027, prioritizing flagship models like the Vivo X Fold 6, X300, and X200 series. A subsequent feature roadmap for late 2026 includes camera enhancements, such as new color styles (e.g., ‘Chasing Light’ and ‘Street’) for the X300 and iQOO 15 series, alongside redesigned camera interfaces and album editing tools like batch watermark removal.
