Vivo OriginOS 7 and BlueOS development
Overview
Vivo has begun the rollout of its next-generation software interface, OriginOS 7, which is scheduled to debut alongside the self-developed BlueOS 4 at the 2026 vivo Developer Conference on September 16 in Shenzhen. Based on Android 17, the update features a ‘liquid glass’ visual design language. Users can select from three distinct visual styles: Liquid Glass, regular glass, and frosted glass, which utilize transparency, dynamic lighting, and smooth animations.
Key features include a revamped lock screen experience with ‘Liquid Themes’ and an interactive ‘AI Pet.’ This virtual companion reacts to real-time data, such as battery levels, weather, and music playback, while providing proactive reminders for notifications and calendar events. The update also introduces an ‘AI-driven Sticker Library’ and expands the ‘Atomic Workbench’ multitasking tool from foldable devices to standard slab phones.
Technical improvements focus on performance and efficiency. The BlueOS Smooth Engine’s ‘Virtual Graphics Card 4.0’ and a new ‘unfair scheduling’ algorithm are designed to enhance memory management and animation smoothness. Performance metrics suggest significant improvements in page switching, app launch speeds, and power consumption. Additionally, ‘Storage Compression 2.0’ is expected to automatically free up significant device space. The upcoming conference is also anticipated to feature updates to the Blue Heart AI strategy and the debut of BlueOS 4 for smartwatches and IoT devices.
