Milorad Dodik expected at MAGA event in Florida

Milorad Dodik, leader of the SNSD, is reportedly expected to attend a major MAGA movement gathering at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. The event, organized by the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), is scheduled to take place following the recent Congressional elections and aims to facilitate discussions regarding the 2028 presidential election.

Reports from The Atlantic suggest Dodik’s potential attendance follows an intensive lobbying campaign. The government of Republika Srpska previously engaged Trump political advisors James Blair and Chris LaCivitu as consultants. While organizers have not officially confirmed Dodik’s presence, multiple sources familiar with the visit indicate the plan is in motion, though subject to last-minute changes.

This development comes amid shifting US policy toward Bosnia and Herzegovina. While the Biden administration imposed sanctions on certain Republika Srpska officials in 2022, observers note a change in tone under the Trump administration. Former US Ambassador Michael Murphy has criticized this shift, arguing that Washington has failed to bring Dodik under control and has effectively aligned with his political agenda.

Separately, the UN Security Council unanimously approved a one-year extension of the EUFOR Althea mandate in Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the session, Russian Ambassador Vasily Nebenzja stated that Republika Srpska is protecting the Dayton Agreement, while US Deputy Ambassador Tami Brus called on acting High Representative Luis Crishock to guide local authorities toward taking full responsibility for internal affairs.
