Andrej Tanaskovski arrested in Montenegro for attempted murder of Marko Ljubiša Kan
North Macedonian citizen Andrej Tanaskovski, 19, a member of an organized crime group, was detained by Montenegrin police in Nikšić. He is accused of attempting to kill Marko Ljubiša Kan – a prominent figure in a rival criminal faction – during an incident at the Maestral hotel in Budva on 7 August 2025. According to police, Tanaskovski fired several shots at Kan, wounding him in the head.
The operation was carried out by the Regional Centre for Security “West” together with the Security Department in Budva, following an international Interpol NCB‑Podgorica warrant. Authorities also arrested a second suspect, N. M. (34), for allegedly assisting Tanaskovski after the attack. The case is being investigated as an attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons, and document falsification.
