Montenegro organized crime arrests

Overview

In late July 2026 Montenegrin police continued a series of high‑profile weapon‑related arrests tied to criminal violence. On 23 July, officers in the coastal town of Bar detained brothers Dragoslav and Duško Ivanović, suspected of fatally shooting their neighbour Mija Adrović. The operation recovered multiple illegal firearms, including two revolvers and an additional pistol, and the suspects were treated for injuries sustained during the arrest.

Three days later, on 26 July, Montenegrin authorities in Nikšić arrested 19‑year‑old North Macedonian Andrej Tanaskovski, identified as a member of an organized‑crime group, for attempting to kill rival gangster Marko Ljubiša Kan at a Budva hotel in August 2025. A second suspect was also detained for allegedly assisting Tanaskovski. The cases are being investigated for attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons and document falsification.

Together, the arrests illustrate an ongoing police crackdown on violent organized‑crime activity and illegal firearms within Montenegro.
