VLOZ launches Portuguese ride-hailing platform

VLOZ, a new Portuguese ride-hailing platform, has launched services in the metropolitan areas of Lisbon, Porto, and Setúbal. Developed by the Torres Vedras-based technology firm The Drop Company, the platform distinguishes itself by allowing passengers to select specific drivers rather than having a driver automatically assigned by the system.

Key features of the app include the ability to create a list of favorite drivers and filter options by language to assist tourists and residents. For drivers, the platform implements a fixed 20% commission and compensates them for the distance traveled to the passenger's pickup location, a practice the company notes is different from many existing industry standards.

Founder Luís Pinto stated that the goal is to provide more information and freedom of choice, fostering a relationship of trust between passengers and professionals.
