VLOZ launches Portuguese ride-hailing service with driver selection
VLOZ, a new Portuguese ride-hailing platform, has launched to compete with established services like Uber and Bolt. Founded by Luís Pinto in Torres Vedras, the app is currently operating in Lisbon, Porto, and Setúbal.
Unlike traditional algorithmic assignment models, VLOZ allows passengers to manually select their driver and vehicle from available options. Users can filter drivers by language, vehicle model, and rating, and can save favorite drivers for future trips. The platform was developed in coordination with the Institute of Mobility and Transport (IMT) through The Drop Company to ensure rigorous documentation validation for all drivers and vehicles.
For drivers, the platform offers a fixed 20% commission and compensates them for the distance traveled to the passenger's pickup location, a cost typically borne by drivers on competing apps.
