VN-Index dips below 1,800 points as market sees mixed sector moves

The VN‑Index closed at 1,798.61 points on June 11, down 5.1 points, slipping below the 1,800‑point threshold after briefly touching it earlier in the session. 371 stocks recorded losses while 293 rose; notable gainers included HSL (food), LDG and QCG (real estate), and GVR (chemicals), with strong performance from rubber, chemicals and oil‑&‑gas groups. Sectors such as banking, securities, retail, technology, electrical equipment, infrastructure, mining and metallurgy remained under pressure.

Trading volume was low, reflecting cautious investor sentiment. Foreign investors sold a net VND 512 billion, buying about VND 845 billion but selling roughly VND 1.4 trillion. Analysts highlighted the difficulty of timing market bottoms and urged investors to focus on risk management, portfolio discipline and companies with solid fundamentals rather than chasing peaks and troughs.
