Vénissieux shooting leaves three injured, including one in critical condition

A shooting at a restaurant terrace in Vénissieux, near Lyon, left three people injured during the night of Saturday to Sunday. The attack targeted the ‘Le Four Five’ establishment on Avenue de la République.

An 18-year-old woman is in critical condition with her life hanging in the balance. Two other victims, a 27-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl, sustained minor injuries. Investigators recovered approximately twenty shell casings at the scene, and the restaurant's storefront sustained multiple bullet impacts.

Witnesses reported that the assailant used an automatic or long firearm and fled the scene on an electric scooter. The Lyon prosecutor's office has opened an investigation into attempted willful homicide by an organized group. The Division of Organized and Specialized Crime (DCOS) of the Rhône has been tasked with the inquiry. While authorities have not confirmed a link to local drug trafficking, it is noted that the establishment had previously been targeted by gunfire in February.
