VNVC and Sanofi launch specialized flu vaccine for elderly in Vietnam

The VNVC Vaccination System, in collaboration with the French pharmaceutical group Sanofi, has introduced a specialized influenza vaccine in Vietnam specifically designed for individuals aged 60 and older, particularly those with underlying medical conditions.

Developed by Sanofi, the vaccine utilizes virus fragmentation technology and antigen purification. It contains an antigen content four times higher than standard dose flu vaccines, providing 60 micrograms of HA antigen per virus strain. This higher concentration is intended to stimulate a stronger immune response in elderly populations who may have declining immune systems.

Clinical trials indicate that this specialized vaccine increases flu protection by 24.2% and reduces the risk of hospitalization by 32% compared to standard doses. The vaccine is already recommended by health authorities in over 25 countries, including the United States, Canada, France, and Germany. VNVC will manage the distribution and storage of the vaccine using international GSP-standard cold chain systems.
