Vodafone details enterprise strategy and Three UK integration
Vodafone has detailed its enterprise business strategy and the integration process with Three UK. The Vodafone Business division reported an annual service revenue of £1.85 billion for 2025/26, accounting for approximately 27% of the total revenue for the combined VodafoneThree entity. The division serves 6.5 million mobile links and 15.3 million IoT links, with mobile services representing 50% of its service revenue.
As part of the network rollout following the merger, VodafoneThree has decided to abandon the use of open RAN technology in the UK. Chief Network Officer Andrea Dona stated that the decision was made because the current open RAN roadmap could not meet the strict deployment deadlines and spectrum requirements imposed by the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).
Instead of utilizing standardized interfaces from multiple vendors, the operator has committed to a £2 billion contract with Nokia and Ericsson to provide traditional, specialized radio equipment. This shift follows previous plans to replace Huawei equipment with a mix of Samsung, Dell, and Intel hardware, which was sidelined to ensure compliance with regulatory timelines.
