Vodafone Greece invests €250 million in fiber, 5G and joint venture with DEI

Vodafone Greece announced a strategic investment exceeding €250 million in digital infrastructure. The rollout expands its FTTH network to more than 550,000 homes and businesses and pushes 5G coverage to 96% of the population, reaching 249 cities and 72 islands. The company launched commercial 5G+ services in Patras and plans extensions to Athens and Thessaloniki.

A potential 50‑50 joint venture with the DEI Group is being explored to create a wholesale fiber‑to‑the‑home provider, which would merge DEI subsidiaries Fibergrid and Fiber2All. Vodafone also earmarked over €15 million to transform its retail stores into technology‑focused experience centers.

Internationally, Vodafone Greece is enhancing Greece’s digital gateway by landing the India‑Europe Express and 2Africa submarine cables at its Tympaki, Crete station, increasing capacity and resilience of cross‑regional connectivity. CEO Achilles Kanaris emphasized that the investments reinforce Vodafone’s commitment to the Greek market and the nation’s digital‑coverage goals.
