Vodafone Greece upgrades 290,000 users to full‑fiber and plans 2G shutdown by 2029

Vodafone Greece announced an upgrade program for 290,000 ADSL and FTTC customers, moving them to the Full Fiber 100 FTTH service while keeping their existing subscription price. The company’s FTTH network now covers more than 550,000 homes and businesses after investing over €0.25 billion in the previous year.

At the same time, Vodafone Greece said it will begin phasing out its 2G network in the second half of 2029. The spectrum freed by the shutdown will be repurposed for expanding 4G and 5G standalone coverage. Older devices that depend on 2G – such as legacy alarm systems, payment‑terminal equipment and certain mobile phones – will cease to operate on the network after the transition.
