Vogelsbergkreis hosts delegation to discuss youth welfare model
A delegation from the Ilm-Kreis in Thuringia visited the Vogelsbergkreis to study the successful implementation of the “social space orientation” model for youth welfare. This approach focuses on social work that prioritizes the living environments and interests of young people.
Landrat Jens Mischak noted that the transition to this model was driven by rising costs and the difficulty of placing many local youths in care facilities outside their home region. Previously, two-thirds of youths required care far from their communities, making parental involvement difficult. By establishing four new local sites, the Vogelsbergkreis created approximately 50 to 60 new care positions within the local social space.
