Volaris adds new Puebla‑Ixtapa and Newark‑Puebla routes

Volaris inaugurated a direct flight from Puebla to Ixtapa‑Zihuatanejo, carrying 99 passengers. The service operates three times a week and was launched during the Tianguis Turístico México 2026 as part of a strategy to boost tourism and economic ties between the two Mexican regions. Pedro Castelán Reyna, executive director of the local tourism board, praised the route’s potential for growth.

The airline also launched its first nonstop service from Newark, New Jersey, to Puebla, bringing more than 50 passengers, including community leaders. The flight, promoted by the Puebla state government under Governor Alejandro Armenta Mier, aims to shorten travel time for the sizable Mexican‑American community, encourage tourism and facilitate trade. Cris Campos of Newark’s Hispanic Commission highlighted the route’s benefit for migrants and local commerce.
