Volen Siderov and Slavcho Velkov announce presidential candidacy

Volen Siderov, leader of the Ataka party, and security expert Slavcho Velkov have announced their intention to run as independent candidates in the upcoming presidential elections. Siderov is planning to run for president, while Velkov intends to run for vice president.

The duo plans to participate as candidates nominated by an initiative committee rather than through a political party. They must still complete several technical and administrative requirements, including the formal establishment of an initiative committee and the collection of necessary signatures to meet Central Election Commission deadlines. Velkov stated that their goal is to transform the presidency into a corrective force in politics rather than maintaining the current status quo.
