Mannheim Police Officer Charged with Rape of Two Women

The Mannheim public prosecutor’s office has filed charges against a 38‑year‑old police officer for alleged rape of two women who were allegedly forced into prostitution. According to the indictment, the officer conducted a control in a Mannheim hotel in June 2025, threatened the women with a fine and possible arrest, and later approached them outside duty hours, coercing them into sexual acts. The victims, aged 22 and 29, reportedly complied out of fear. The officer has been suspended, a disciplinary procedure launched, and the local court must decide whether to admit the indictment.

The police union has warned that the public should respect the presumption of innocence, stating that “an indictment is not a conviction.” Prosecutors noted that pre‑trial detention was not ordered, saying “the prerequisites for custodial detention were not present.” The case is now awaiting a court ruling on the admissibility of the charges.
