Volkswagen accelerates e‑mobility and software push as Bosch partnership hangs in balance
Volkswagen is restructuring its core business around electrification and software. The company plans to use its own electric vehicle architectures and unified software platforms to cut production costs, meet stricter CO₂ regulations and generate new revenue streams from updates, upgrades and subscription services.
At the same time, reports suggest a possible re‑organisation of Volkswagen's partnership with Bosch on automated driving. The alliance, which has received about €1.5 billion, is uncertain after media speculation that Volkswagen may curtail the collaboration as part of a broader cost‑cutting program. No official decision has been announced, but the uncertainty has kept Volkswagen’s shares near their 52‑week low and heightened market concern over the timeline and costs of its software‑defined vehicle strategy.
