Volkswagen and Peugeot unveil new electric GTI performance models

Major automotive manufacturers Volkswagen and Peugeot are introducing new electric performance models under their historic GTI branding.

Volkswagen has unveiled the ID. 3 GTI, described as the most powerful series-production GTI from the Wolfsburg-based manufacturer. The model features a 79kWh battery, providing a range of up to 601km, and a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 5.6 seconds. It includes specialized features such as IQ. LIGHT Matrix LED headlights and a dedicated GTI driving profile.

Peugeot is also transitioning its GTI legacy to the electric era with the E-208 GTi. Developed by Peugeot Sport, the vehicle produces 281 hp and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. The model incorporates performance-oriented hardware, including a mechanical limited-slip differential and a lowered chassis. The E-208 GTi is expected to arrive in dealerships this autumn, with a scheduled release in Turkey during the first half of 2027.
