Volkswagen de México and SITIAVW reach agreement to avoid strike

Volkswagen de México and the Independent Union of Automotive Industry Workers of Volkswagen, Similar and Connected (SITIAVW) have reached a preliminary agreement to prevent a strike at the Cuautlancingo plant in Puebla.

The agreement, which was reached shortly before a strike deadline, includes salary increases and improved benefits. For 2026, the deal proposes a 3.80 percent direct salary increase, plus additional adjustments for specialists and savings funds, totaling an integral increase of 9.41 percent for the year. When including all economic components and benefits, the global benefit is estimated at 13.16 percent. For 2027, a 3.50 percent salary increase is planned.

Other key terms include the reinstatement of 611 previously terminated technicians and a commitment to maintain the current workforce. The agreement also addresses profit sharing, vacation scheduling, and standing work regulations. The deal is not yet finalized, as it must be submitted to the union membership for a vote.
