Volkswagen prepares ID. 3 Neo electric vehicle for production

Volkswagen is advancing the rollout of its new compact electric vehicle, the ID. 3 Neo. While official mass production is slated to begin in early 2027, pre-series vehicles are already being assembled at the Wolfsburg plant. Currently, the model is being manufactured in Zwickau, but production will expand to Wolfsburg next year to support the full series launch.

The ID. 3 Neo features updated exterior and interior designs, including a more intuitive interface with physical buttons and a retro mode. It is offered with three battery capacities: 50kWh, 58kWh, and 79kWh, providing driving ranges of up to 390 miles (WLTP) and power outputs up to 231 hp.

Performance testing indicates that while the vehicle offers efficient energy consumption, its charging speeds remain a point of comparison against competitors like BYD. The 79kWh battery version can take approximately 24 to 29 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% under optimal conditions. Additionally, Volkswagen plans to introduce a performance-oriented GTI variant of the ID. 3 Neo in late 2027.
