Volkswagen Golf GTI miniature replica functions as autonomous lawn mower

A German YouTuber from the channel Project Hunter has created a miniature, autonomous lawn mower modeled after the Volkswagen Golf 2 GTI. The project serves as a tribute to the creator's father's original vehicle.

The replica features highly detailed aesthetics, including a black grille, round dual headlights, flared fenders, and BBS-style rims. The bodywork was entirely 3D-printed, a process requiring over 100 hours of printing time. Built on an aluminum chassis, the machine utilizes a drone brushless motor to power the cutting system.

Technologically advanced, the mower is equipped with ultrasonic sensors, bumper contactors, and a thermal camera designed to detect and avoid small animals like hedgehogs. It can be operated via a mobile application to control speed, lighting, and the horn. Following its successful testing—covering approximately 60 kilometers—Volkswagen acknowledged the project by providing an official GTI emblem.
