Overview
German YouTuber Nils, through the “Project Hunter” channel, developed a fully functional autonomous robotic lawn mower inspired by the second-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI. The machine features a 3D-printed body, an aluminum frame, and a brushless motor. To facilitate autonomous operation and safety, the device utilizes ultrasonic sensors, bumper contact switches, and a thermal camera capable of detecting small animals, such as hedgehogs, to trigger an automatic stop of movement and blades.
Following successful testing covering approximately 60 kilometers, the project received recognition from Volkswagen, which provided an official GTI emblem for the replica.
