Volkswagen ID. Polo 37‑kWh launches across Europe with record pre‑orders and subsidised pricing

Volkswagen opened pre‑sales for the ID. Polo equipped with a 37‑kWh battery, pricing the base Trend trim at €24,995. State subsidies and commercial discounts bring the effective price for low‑income households down to as little as €17,850, with typical customers paying around €20,460 after a €3,535 “Coup de pouce” grant and a €1,000 dealer rebate.

Within weeks the company reported more than 70,000 orders for its new Electric Urban Car Family, of which 25,000 are for the ID. Polo. The model offers a WLTP range of up to 334 km and can charge from 10 % to 80 % in about 23 minutes on a 90 kW DC fast‑charger. Its equipment includes LED headlights, a digital cockpit, and a suite of driver‑assist systems.

Analysts note the Polo’s price under €18,000 makes it cheaper than the competing Renault 5 E‑Tech Five, while also providing faster 90 kW charging and a larger trunk. The strong demand signals a shift for Volkswagen toward high‑volume, affordable electric cars in the European market.
