Volkswagen introduces 8‑speed automatic transmission for Brazil’s 2027 T‑Cross SUV
Volkswagen Brazil announced that the 2027 T‑Cross SUV will receive a new eight‑speed automatic gearbox (code AQ300) in the 1.0 turbo‑flex (200 TSI) versions – Sense, 200 TSI and Comfortline. The transmission, supplied by Japan’s Aisin, replaces the previous six‑speed unit and is intended to keep the engine in its optimal torque band, improve fuel efficiency, shorten turbo lag and deliver quicker acceleration in city traffic.
Higher‑spec variants equipped with the 1.4 TSI engine (Highline and Extreme) will retain the existing six‑speed automatic, as will other Volkswagen models such as the Nivus. The gearbox change was first reported by journalist João Anacleto on Instagram and later confirmed by the manufacturer. It comes shortly after a R$10,000 price reduction for the model, aimed at boosting sales in a competitive SUV segment.
