Volkswagen launches affordable ID. Polo electric hatchback in Italy and Spain

Volkswagen has introduced the ID. Polo, an all‑electric version of its popular Polo hatchback, targeting urban drivers in Europe. In Italy the model is offered alongside the conventional gasoline Polo, with prices ranging from €24,995 to €39,990 for the electric version and €21,990 to €30,380 for the internal‑combustion model. The Spanish market sees the ID. Polo priced from €17,900 for the entry‑level Match trim, which features a 37 kWh LFP battery, an 85 kW (116 hp) motor and an advertised range of up to 323 km. Higher‑spec Life and Style trims use the same battery or a larger 52 kWh NMC pack, delivering up to 455 km of range. All variants support rapid DC charging up to 90 kW, reaching 80 % charge in about 23 minutes. Volkswagen reports more than 70,000 pre‑orders for the new ID. Polo within weeks of launch, including roughly 25,000 orders for the model itself, underscoring strong demand for a lower‑cost electric city car.

The launch expands Volkswagen’s electric‑vehicle portfolio and signals the brand’s push to make EVs accessible to a broader audience, with the ID. Polo positioned as a budget‑friendly alternative to higher‑priced models while retaining modern connectivity and safety features.
