Volkswagen launches affordable ID. Polo electric in Spain as traditional Polo exits Indian market

Volkswagen announced the launch of the ID. Polo, its first electric model built in Spain, at a starting price of €24,330. The car will be produced at the Seat Martorell plant and aims to bring electric mobility to a broader Spanish audience, offering up to 449 km of WLTP range. Director General Enrique Piferrer said, “Vamos a acercar el coche eléctrico al cliente español.”

In India, the conventional Volkswagen Polo is no longer sold after its 2022 discontinuation due to stricter emissions standards and shifting consumer demand toward SUVs. The 2026 model specifications and pricing previously listed for the Indian market are now irrelevant as the model has been withdrawn.

Both developments reflect Volkswagen’s shift toward electric vehicles while winding down older internal‑combustion offerings in key markets.
