Volkswagen launches high‑power ID Unyx 09 EV for China
Volkswagen is expanding its electric‑vehicle lineup in China with the new ID. Unyx 09, a fully electric sedan unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show. The Chinese Ministry of Industry and Technology released full specifications: a rear‑wheel‑drive version producing 313 hp and an all‑wheel‑drive version adding a 190 hp front motor for a combined 503 hp, both limited to 200 km/h. The cars use LFP batteries supplied by CATL, with capacities of either 82 kWh or 95 kWh, and measure about 5.08 m long, 1.98 m wide, and weigh between 2.2 t and 2.3 t, making them larger than the European ID.7. Design cues include a “shark‑nose” front and aggressive styling.
In parallel, Volkswagen teased the third model of its ID Era series, the fully electric ID Era 9X SUV, built on an 800‑volt platform and aimed primarily at the Chinese market, with possible future European adaptation. The move reflects VW’s strategy to retain market share in China as sales have recently slipped.
