Volkswagen launches ID.3 GTI electric compact, discarding GTX badge

Volkswagen is retiring the GTX designation and will market the new ID.3 GTI (also referred to as the ID.3 Neo GTI) as its performance electric compact. Test runs show a rear‑wheel‑drive layout, a power output of roughly 240 kW (322‑340 hp), and a sport‑tuned suspension. The model adds GTI‑specific exterior tweaks, a larger digital instrument cluster, a 12.9‑inch central screen and other interior upgrades.

The vehicle is expected to be officially presented before the end of 2026 with a starting price below €39,000, positioning it as the next‑generation sporty offering in Volkswagen's ID. series and replacing the earlier ID.3 GTX concept.
