Volkswagen launches Meteor Ultra heavy-duty truck line

Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus has announced the launch of the Meteor Ultra line, a new series of heavy-duty trucks. The models, which include the Meteor 28.500 6x2, Meteor 28.540 6x2, and Meteor 29.540 6x4, are equipped with the D26 Ultra engine, delivering up to 540 hp and 2,650 Nm of torque.

These new models aim to reduce fuel consumption by up to 5% compared to previous versions. Technological advancements include an evolved Predictive Plus system that utilizes online maps and GPS data to optimize gear shifting strategies based on the route. The vehicles also feature enhanced remote electronic system updates and a 10-inch multimedia center with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The development process involved over 3 million kilometers of testing across various climates, altitudes, and road conditions. The D26 Ultra engine technology will also be integrated into four new Constellation models for both road and off-road applications. The new line is scheduled to be presented to the market starting at Fenatran.
