Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus (VWCO) has introduced the Meteor Ultra line, a new series of heavy-duty trucks. The line includes the Meteor 28.500 6x2, Meteor 28.540 6x2, and Meteor 29.540 6x4 models, all powered by the D26 Ultra engine which delivers up to 540 hp and 2,650 Nm of torque.
These vehicles are designed to reduce fuel consumption by up to 5% through technological advancements such as the Predictive Plus system, which uses GPS and online maps to optimize gear shifting. The development of these models involved over 3 million kilometers of testing across diverse climates and altitudes.
In addition to the Meteor Ultra, VWCO announced the Constellation 33.540 6x4, a model specifically designed for heavy-duty off-road use in the agribusiness sector. This model features a reinforced chassis and an elevated suspension system to manage high traction capacities. The company is also pursuing energy transition through electric e-Delivery models and Constellation Biomethane, while expanding into the utility vehicle segment via a partnership with SAIC Motor.
