Volkswagen unveiled the third‑generation Tiguan for the Brazilian market, positioning it against rapidly growing Chinese hybrid SUVs such as BYD and GWM. Although the Brazil‑spec model does not offer a plug‑in hybrid powertrain, it features a redesigned exterior, upgraded cabin materials, a larger digital multimedia screen, full‑digital instrument panel, advanced driver‑assistance systems and a retuned suspension for greater comfort. The vehicle will be powered by the brand’s 2.0 L TSI turbo engine paired with a DSG automatic transmission and 4Motion all‑wheel drive.

To mark the model’s 20‑year anniversary, Volkswagen released a limited “Tiguan Edition 20” in Germany. The special edition, based on the Life trim, includes a unique Maple Red Metallic paint, black glossy exterior details, 19‑inch Coventry wheels (optional 20‑inch), illuminated door sills and exclusive interior stitching. It is priced from €48,180 (about R$ 280,000). Production of the third‑generation Tiguan takes place in Wolfsburg (Germany), Puebla (Mexico) and Anting (China). The launch underscores Volkswagen’s strategy to retain its premium SUV footing in Brazil amid intensifying competition from electric and hybrid offerings.
