Volkswagen Passat GTE battery retains 76% capacity after 300,000 km
Aaron Hoekstra, a resident of Noardburgum in the Netherlands, purchased a used Volkswagen Passat Variant GTE with 300,000 kilometers on the odometer without performing a prior battery inspection.
Hoekstra sought a spacious and economical family vehicle, opting for the plug-in hybrid model due to its combination of a gasoline engine and electric capability. Despite the high mileage, he proceeded with the purchase based on a complete maintenance history that showed no irregularities.
A subsequent test reported by the Dutch magazine AutoWeek revealed that the battery retained over 76 percent of its original usable capacity. The Passat GTE models typically offer an electric range of approximately 40 to 56 kilometers depending on the model year and conditions.
