Volkswagen T‑Cross 2027 gets eight‑speed transmission, up to 7% fuel savings in Brazil

Volkswagen has launched the 2027 version of its T‑Cross compact SUV in Brazil with a new eight‑speed automatic transmission (AQ300) replacing the previous six‑speed unit in the entry‑level Sense and intermediate 200 TSI (1.0 L turbo) trims. The additional gears allow the engine to run at lower RPMs on cruise, delivering smoother shifts and reducing urban fuel consumption by up to 7% (about 1.64 MJ/km to 1.56 MJ/km). The update comes without a price increase, keeping the Sense model at R$ 119,990 and within the tax‑exemption ceiling for people with disabilities.

Alongside the mechanical change, the 2027 lineup adds equipment such as a rear‑view camera, 17‑inch alloy wheels, key‑less entry, parking sensors, LED daytime running lights, an electro‑chromic interior mirror and rain sensors on the Comfortline trim. The top‑of‑the‑range Highline and Extreme versions retain the 1.4 L turbo engine and the original six‑speed gearbox. Volkswagen says the refresh supports the T‑Cross’s position as Brazil’s best‑selling SUV for three consecutive years.
