Volkswagen T‑Cross tops Brazil SUV sales in first half of 2026

SUVs continued to dominate Brazil's vehicle market in the first six months of 2026, capturing roughly 58% of all new registrations and contributing to a 16% rise in total vehicle registrations compared with the same period a year earlier. The segment saw 2.71 million units sold overall.

Volkswagen led the segment, with the T‑Cross recording 48,048 registrations to become the best‑selling SUV, followed by the VW Tera with 41,420 units and Hyundai’s Creta with 35,925. Other notable performers included BYD’s Song (31,524), Chevrolet Tracker (29,223) and Fiat’s Pulse (25,913). The market outlook expects total light‑vehicle sales of about 2.77 million for the full year.

In the large‑SUV category, Toyota’s SW4 maintained its long‑standing leadership, registering 6,780 units – 838 more than the runner‑up – underscoring its appeal in a segment that has been dominated by the model for over a decade.
