Volkswagen unveils ID. California electric camper

Volkswagen has unveiled the ID. California Cruise, its first electric camper van, at the Caravan Salon 2026. Based on the ID. Buzz platform, the vehicle will be available in both short and long wheelbase versions.

Designed primarily for two people, the model is intended for weekend getaways and longer trips. The interior features a 2.03-meter by 1.20-meter folding mattress, a camping table, two chairs, and specialized window ventilation and blackout blinds. This launch marks the beginning of a new family of electric camper vehicles that the German automaker plans to expand throughout the decade.
