Volkswagen unveils high-performance electric ID. 3 GTI

Volkswagen has unveiled the ID. 3 GTI, marking the most powerful iteration in the 50-year history of the GTI nameplate. The all-electric hot hatch features a rear-mounted APP550 electric motor delivering 240 kW (326 PS) and 545 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h acceleration in 5.6 seconds.

Equipped with a 79 kWh lithium-ion battery, the vehicle offers an estimated range of up to 601 km. It supports DC fast charging, capable of reaching a 10% to 80% state of charge in approximately 29 minutes at up to 183 kW. Performance features include adaptive Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) sports suspension, direct progressive steering, and a dedicated GTI drive mode that adjusts power delivery, steering, and ambient lighting.

Additionally, Volkswagen is exploring extreme efficiency through its ‘Mission Efficiency’ project, inspired by the legendary XL1 concept. This initiative aims to push the boundaries of aerodynamics and electric range, utilizing a highly streamlined silhouette to demonstrate the future of usable electric mobility.
