Volkswagen expands electric lineup and updates commercial vehicles
Volkswagen is expanding its electric and commercial vehicle lineups with several key updates. The company is launching the ID. Polo and ID. Cross, targeting more accessible price points in the B-segment. The ID. Polo, starting at approximately 25,000 euros, offers up to 454 km of range, while the ID. Cross features a redesigned interior with a mix of digital screens and physical controls.
However, the ID. Polo GTI has faced criticism regarding its top speed, which is electronically limited to 175 km/h—lower than the original 1976 Golf GTI. Volkswagen executives noted that technical constraints involving the battery and reduction gearbox are primary factors in this limitation.
In the commercial sector, Volkswagen has simultaneously updated its Caddy, Multivan, and California models. These updates include redesigned exteriors, enhanced driver assistance systems, and improved interior technology, such as the 12.9-inch central touchscreen and Digital Cockpit Pro. Additionally, the brand is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Golf GTI with a special performance edition featuring upgraded mechanical and aesthetic components.
