Volkswagen workers in Puebla to vote on 8.24% salary increase
Workers represented by the Independent Union of Automotive Industry Workers of Volkswagen de México (SITIAVW) will vote on Wednesday, October 28, regarding a third salary proposal from the German automaker. The proposed agreement includes a global increase of 8.24%, featuring a 4.4% direct salary raise and a 0.25% increase to the savings fund.
The package also includes a one-time payment of 12,000 pesos for each of the 7,048 unionized technicians, equivalent to 3.59%. These benefits, including payments and perks, are set to be retroactive to August 18, 2026, and will remain in effect for one year.
Volkswagen has stated it will not present further economic offers, making this vote the final stage of negotiations. If the majority of workers reject the proposal, a strike is scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 29, at 11:00 AM.
