Volánbusz bribery case: Three suspects detained including Dániel Jellinek
The Central Investigative Prosecutor's Office has launched a major coordinated operation regarding a multi-billion forint bribery and corruption case involving Volánbusz Zrt. The investigation focuses on bus procurement processes and passenger transport services occurring between 2015 and 2018.
Authorities have interrogated four suspects and taken three into custody. Prime Minister Péter Magyar confirmed that the individuals brought forward include Dániel Jellinek, CEO of Indotek Group, and Norbert Szivek, the former CEO of the Hungarian National Asset Management.
The investigation is examining an estimated 10 billion HUF in asset losses. Investigators are looking into allegations that funds from state-owned bus companies were diverted through intermediary companies and sham loans into real estate, vehicles, and cash. Indotek Group has maintained Jellinek's innocence and stated he is cooperating with the authorities.
