Ukraine conducts widespread strikes on Russian infrastructure as Zelenskyy seeks stronger global response

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has criticized the international community for failing to provide a sufficiently strong response to escalating Russian attacks on civilian areas. He warned that Moscow must face greater consequences to deter continued missile and drone bombardment.

In a series of retaliatory actions, Ukrainian forces have expanded their long-range strike campaign against Russian infrastructure. Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine hit eight Russian targets across multiple regions, including an oil refinery in the Yamalo-Nenets region and the Makhachkala Commercial Sea Port in Dagestan. The latter is reportedly used as a route for Iranian-made Shahed drones.

Additionally, Ukraine claimed a significant strike against Russia’s Black Sea infrastructure in Novorossiysk, targeting a naval base, oil-loading facilities, and warships capable of carrying Kalibr cruise missiles.

On the diplomatic and support front, Zelenskyy expressed his intention to meet with Donald Trump in New York during the UN General Assembly to discuss strengthening Ukraine’s air defenses. This comes as Canada pledged 350 million Canadian dollars for air defense interceptors and 450 million Canadian dollars in credit guarantees to support Ukraine’s energy sector.
