Greece fights multiple wildfires in Ilia, Volos and Agrinio

In the Ilia region, a wildfire broke out in the Agia Marina area of Voupraia. Firefighters deployed 42 personnel, two EMODE foot‑patrol teams, 13 fire engines, three water‑dropping aircraft and local municipal water‑tankers. The blaze is now under control with no active front and investigations into its cause have begun.

In the Volos district, a fire erupted in the Aivaliotika neighbourhood above the ancient Theatre of Demetriados. Thirty‑three firefighters, two EMODE foot‑patrol groups, nine fire trucks and municipal water‑tankers responded, while road traffic on the Athens Avenue corridor was temporarily halted. The fire was contained without damage to homes and its cause is being examined by the fire service’s investigative unit.

Further north, a wildfire spread across low‑vegetation areas in the Great Country of Agrinio. Twenty‑five firefighters, nine fire vehicles and two aircraft were mobilised, contending with strong winds that hampered suppression efforts. The fire remains under observation, with no reported threat to nearby settlements.

All three incidents are being managed by the Greek Fire Service, which continues to monitor the situations and conduct investigations into the origins of the blazes.
