Volotea adds Ancona base and hires 200 staff in Italy

Spanish low‑cost carrier Volotea will open its eighth Italian base at Ancona Airport in December 2026. The new hub will host an Airbus A320‑neo, create about 30 direct jobs and roughly 170 indirect positions, and expand the airline’s network to six destinations across Italy, France and Spain.

At the same time Volotea announced a recruitment drive for about 200 new crew members – primarily cabin crew and pilots – to support its Italian bases in Florence, Venice, Verona and Olbia. Candidates must meet language, age and fitness requirements and will go through a multi‑stage assessment process.

Volotea’s CEO Carlos Muñoz highlighted the strategic importance of the Ancona base for long‑term growth in the region, while Ancona International Airport chief Giorgio Buffa called the project a pivotal step for the local economy and connectivity.
