Volotea expands in Italy

In late July 2026 the Spanish low‑cost carrier Volotea announced the opening of its eighth Italian base at Ancona International Airport, slated to become operational in December 2026. The new hub will host a permanently stationed Airbus A320‑neo and will support a network of six routes to domestic Italian cities and to Paris, Barcelona and Madrid. Volotea expects the base to create about 30 direct jobs and at least 170 indirect positions.

Alongside the base opening, the airline launched a recruitment drive for roughly 200 new crew members, primarily cabin crew and pilots, to staff its existing Italian bases in Florence, Venice, Verona and Olbia. The announcements highlighted the strategic importance of the Marche region for Volotea’s long‑term growth, noting a 95 % load factor on its Italian operations in the first half of 2026 and a cumulative 1.2 million passengers served on the Ancona route since 2012. Further route additions are expected in the coming weeks.
