Volta Redonda approves measures to reduce bureaucracy for taxpayers

The Volta Redonda City Council has approved a project proposed by councilman Rodrigo Furtado aimed at simplifying the ‘prova de vida’ (proof of life) process and reducing bureaucracy for maintaining IPTU tax discounts. The new measure allows the City Hall and VR Previdência to consult official records instead of requiring beneficiaries to appear in person. Additionally, voting in elections within the previous 12 months may serve as proof of life, provided the data is confirmed through official channels without accessing voting content.

In a separate fiscal initiative, the Volta Redonda City Hall is offering a 100% discount on interest and fines for taxpayers seeking to regularize outstanding Service Tax (ISSQN) debts. This program is available to both companies and self-employed professionals for debts established until July 31, 2026. Taxpayers can choose between lump-sum payments or installments, provided all payments are completed by December 21, 2026.
