Volta Redonda municipal administration and services

Overview

The municipality of Volta Redonda has introduced several administrative and service-oriented measures. The city implemented Decree No. 20.403 to regulate the transfer of taxi service exploitation rights, allowing for the assignment of authorizations between individuals or to heirs within one year of a holder's death.

In terms of public infrastructure, the city is expanding health services to support a population estimated to exceed 280,000 residents. The Unified Health System (SUS) currently utilizes 443 beds through a mix of public hospitals and private sector agreements.

Additionally, the City Council approved measures to reduce bureaucracy for taxpayers. This includes simplifying the ‘prova de vida’ (proof of life) process by allowing the City Hall to consult official records rather than requiring in-person appearances. To assist with fiscal regularization, the City Hall is also offering a 100% discount on interest and fines for outstanding Service Tax (ISSQN) debts for companies and self-employed professionals, provided payments are completed by December 21, 2026.
